Ready to make informed, confident choices that will set your student up for success?
Some schools that say they are test optional (for SAT or ACT) actually give a big advantage to students who submit scores. Others truly are test optional. We'll give you the data and show you the method to figure out whether or not your student should submit their test scores to any specific college.
We've been doing this for 15+ years and know how to help get the families on track--fast. The deadlines are looming. The first ones will hit October 15th, then November 1, November 30, and January 1. A missed deadline means the student isn't applying to that school in this admission year. There is NO leeway--not even 10 seconds of leeway--with those deadlines. When the clock strikes, usually at midnight on the day of the deadline, then the application door slams shut.
Every day you wait to figure this out is one fewer day to craft the college list, polish the essays, determine whether or not to submit test scores, or run the financial calculations that should underpin whether a student even applies to any given college. It's heartbreaking when a student gets admitted to a highly selective college only to discover that the family is not willing or able to pay for that education and they have to decline the offer.
Some families don't actually WANT their student to get into the colleges that will cost them a bunch of money! For example, California parents would often much rather have their student attend a University of California school for $45,000/year instead of a private college like New York University or USC that costs $95,000/year.
This is why financial planning and calculations are an essential part of this process.
By the end of my Master Class, you will have the knowledge, skills, and fundamental understanding to help your student make the best possible choices throughout the college admissions season and put their best application forward for each of the colleges on their list, even if you're thinking, "We don't need this, and we can do it on our own (but we don't know what we're doing and we don't know just how much we don't know!)
